The Maestro's Maker now on sale at Ravenous Romance. Thursday Thirteen No. 4
Thursday Thirteen character interview time again! Today’s guest is Chloe de la Roche. Though she makes only a modest appearance in The Maestro’s Butterfly, Chloe plays a much larger literary role in prequel The Maestro’s Maker - that of narrator. She speaks about the book, her role in the story and what is so attractive about Claudio du Fresne.
1. What is it about The Maestro’s Maker that will make fans of The Maestro’s Butterfly come back for seconds?
It is the same in spirit. There is plenty of sex, of course, because of Claudio. And if they like him because he is bossy and unrepentant and likes to punish people, they won’t be disappointed in this one.
2. Now, you’re a vampire, not one of Claudio’s feeder-slaves. Do you get punished also?
Everyone who lives under Claudio’s authority can be punished. He will spank me, or whatever, as quickly as he will one of the feeders.
3. How do you feel about that?
It’s Claudio. It’s the way he does things. But there is something sexy about a man who takes charge, no?
4. Though Claudio is practically your husband, The Maestro’s Butterfly isn’t about your relationship. Can you explain for our readers how that works?
It’s simple. It’s the story of how he gets one of our feeders. We are not exactly monogamous. Vampires rarely are.
5. Why is that?
It’s the way the bite works. Feeding is, for us, very tied to our sex drive. Usually, if we feed from someone, we fuck them too. It helps keep them willing. As a result, the most successful vampires tend to be people of a certain type. Those who can adapt to this sort of lifestyle.
6. Did you have trouble with that?
Yes, it was difficult for me at first. It was not my choice to become a vampire. I had a very different life then. But one must adapt, no?
7. Was it Claudio’s choice?
It’s best if people find out from reading The Maestro’s Maker, which, of course, tells the story of how he became a vampire.
8. The Maestro’s Maker is the second book of the Maestro series. What is your role in this one?
In this one, I am narrator. I tell my story, and Claudio’s, and tell of the way we met. I was very young then – eighteen, twenty – something like that. A young girl by today’s standards. But very much a woman then.
9. There is a third, very important, character in The Maestro’s Maker, though, isn’t there?
A third…? Oh, you mean Francois? Yes, he is the…how do you say…the catalyst. He is responsible for much of what happens. He is responsible for Claudio and I meeting.
10. Is he a good man?
No. There are no good men in this book.
11. Not even Claudio?
Claudio is good in his own way, I suppose. He is loyal to his family. He knows how to make things happen. He takes care of us. But he has always known how to get what – or who – he wants. He will take care of you, but he exacts a price. And part of that price is being owned. He will take your body and your soul and make you crave only him. The other price is a spanking, a real one, if you disobey. Or, if he is very displeased, even a whipping. And sometimes, he will do these things for nothing more than his own pleasure. I love him, though. I have since the first time I saw him.
12. What was it you loved about him?
He was such a beautiful, noble-looking man. And I could see his passion in the way he played his violin. That sound, the first time, haunts me even today.
13. I hear there are pirates.
Pirates – yes, unfortunately, there are.

LOL... loved the last answer! The rest was great, but the dry sarcasm at the end was too funny.
Thanks for visiting earlier. Have a great day :-)
Yes, Chloe is a sarcastic one. She isn't actually narrator though. More like POV character. My peoples like to take credit though. ;)
Clever idea for a TT topic and tie-in to your book. Thanks for visiting me earlier!
